Barnaby's Budgeting Tips: Day 11

The Momentum UK Team 11 February 2014

For some of us, nothing quite beats curling up with a good book - but for avid readers the costs can really add up! Today's tip is all about reading on a budget.

Barnaby says:

"Reading can be a great hobby, but if you're not careful you can end up spending hundreds of pounds a year on new books, which you'll probably only read once. Instead of buying books, try organising book swaps with your friends. That way you all get to read something new for free, and won't clutter your home with books. If your friends don't have the books you want, try a website like, which allows you to connect with other swappers online."

Have you tried book swapping? If reading isn't your thing, how do you keep the costs down on your favourite hobby? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
